The Bart J. Ruggiere Adaptive Sports Center is under the direction of Joe Hurley. Joe has been teaching people with disabilities for almost 20 years. He has been working his way through the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) certification.  During the 2009-2010 ski season, Joe earned both his PSIA Level II Alpine certification and his PSIA Level III Adaptive certification.  Joe supervises between 35 and 50 year-round volunteers. He oversees their training in both winter and summer. Some of his volunteers have gone on to become certified in PSIA-E in Adaptive skiing. 


The Bart Center is proud to work in conjunction with Special Olympics Vermont - Manchester.  Some of the volunteer staff members that work with the winter Special Olympic Ski Team are also instructors in the Bart Center.
